Check device permission
uDink uses the device's location permission to rank nearby sessions and venues and to resolve a local area. There is no separate in-app location switch in the current build; the operating-system permission is authoritative.
iPhone or iPad
- Open the iOS Settings app.
- Open Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Select uDink.
- Allow location while using the app. Enable Precise Location if you want the most accurate nearby ranking.
- Return to uDink.
Android
- Open the device's app settings for uDink.
- Open Permissions > Location.
- Allow location while using the app.
- Choose precise or approximate location according to your preference. The current app accepts either permission, although approximate location can make nearby ranking less accurate.
- Make sure the device's main Location service is on, then return to uDink.
Permission alone does not guarantee that the device has produced a current location. uDink on Android currently reads the last available device location, which can be missing or stale.
Refresh and search
- Open Directory.
- Pull down to refresh.
- Use Search Courts / Venues to search by venue name, address, city, state, country or venue code.
- Open Sessions and use Search sessions, venues or groups if you are looking for a session at that venue.
If location is unavailable, the Directory can show venues alphabetically rather than limiting and ranking them using the resolved country and distance.
Add a genuinely missing venue
If the venue does not exist in the Directory and you have the correct details, use the add-venue action or Add new venue if not in list while creating a session. See How to set up a new venue for the venue types and address fields.
Use Add new venue if not in list when the venue is genuinely missing.
What happens next?
Reopen the Directory after changing permission or adding a venue. If a venue is still missing or has the wrong location, contact support with its name, full public address and a map link. Do not send your live personal location.
